Welcome to Anna's page

Journal

Anna's memorial was lovely. Suzanne Tompkins found a wonderful space to hold it and made sure it was set up properly, Victor Gonzalez did the program and collected the stories sent him into a great little zine, Marion White created a photo display that had people constantly trading memories, Walter Willis brought in a large selection of Anna's books for people to take as mementos, and her friends from work brought in a marvelous memory book with dozens of contributions.

Kate Schaefer's eulogy gave us her joy in Anna's friendship and her grief at losing her. Walter spoke of his beloved big sis, Anna's parents both shared some of their sorrow, and a number of friends from the many communities she enriched told stories of what Anna gave to them. I was especially moved to hear that the new shop steward manual will be dedicated to her. Judy Kaplan closed the service by leading us all in singing, "Bread and Roses."

Thanks so much to all of you who shared this with us, whether in person or in spirit!

Jane Hawkins
