Levi's Page

Welcome to Levi's Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about Levi.
Levi was diagnosed with medulloblastoma on 9/2/04. He had a total resection of the tumor. He also had mets on his spine. On 9/9/04 he had a VP shunt placed. Levi also had PFS/CM. He was unable to move for almost a month after surgery. He could not talk until December 21, 2004. Levi completed 31 radiation treatments and 5 rounds of Etoposide, 3 rounds of Cisplatin, 3 rounds of Cytoxan, 3 rounds of Vincristine and 2 rounds of Topotecan. He had a shunt revision in April 2005 and almost died from an infection in May. His body went into septic shock and was in PICU for several days. He finished treatment on 7/23/05. This monster has a taken a toll on Levi's little body, but he is a fighter. He has a great sense of humor and is the most loving little boy you could ever meet. He has a big brother named Ethan and a little sister named Kayleigh. Please continue to pray for him.

Permanent lyrics

Is this the moment where I look you in the eye?
Forgive my broken promise that you’ll never see me cry
And everything, it will surely change even if I tell you I won’t go away today
Will you think that you’re all alone
When no one’s there to hold your hand?
And all you know seems so far away and everything is temporary rest your head
I’m permanent

I know he’s living in hell every single day
And so I ask oh god is there some way for me to take his place
And when they say just touch and go I wish I could make it go away
But still you say
Will you think that you’re all alone when no one’s there to hold your hand?
When all you know seems so far away and everything is temporary, rest your head
I’m permanent
I’m permanent

Is the moment where I look you in the eye?
Forgive my promise that you’ll never see me cry

Hello, hello, hello!

Not much to say, Levi is happy school is almost over. He started his Humatrope last week and is doing great with it.

His new favorite song is "Don't Stop Believin' " by Journey. I would say that's pretty daggone appropriate, wouldn't you?

I have posted the lyrics to "Permanent" by David Cook, who wrote this song in honor of his brother Adam. Adam passed away on 5/2/09 from brain cancer. If you download the American Idol version of the song from iTunes, all the proceeds go to ABC2 to fight f'ing cancer.

I'm really looking forward to hanging out with some old friends from Wilderness Adventure Saturday. I remember when only me and Dave had kids! Now there will be a whole herd of them there :-).

Did I mention Ethan gets his learners in three months from Tuesday??

Holy crap.

OK - some special people I know need prayers. Jason Martin, he is a nephew of a friend of mine. Two men at work - Michael and Jason, both cancers. My friend Charlotte just lost her mom and her mother in law passed away just a few months ago, plus her dad is pretty sick, too. And my friend Veronica needs lots of prayers right now. Her grandmother is on hospice and she and her mom are both having health problems too. And please, please pray for my mom. She had to have CT of her brain this week and some pathology done a cyst removed from her face.

Don't forget that My Sister's Keeper comes out next month. I plan on going by myself, either in the middle of the day or to the midnight show. I don't want anyone to be with me when I see this movie. If you haven't read the book, you need to read it first (come on, the book is always better, everyone knows that!). This book is the absolute closest I have EVER felt to someone walking a mile in my shoes. EVER. I emailed Jodi Picoult after I read it and she emailed me back right away, so awesome. I may read it again this weekend, to gear up for the movie. I heard they changed the ending, which SUCKS.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE.

Speaking of movies, Kayleigh's movie debut is Tuesday at the beautiful Grandin Theatre in Roanoke. The name of the movie is "My Kid Could Paint That". Here is what the director said about Kayleigh: "When Kayleigh becomes a star I hope she'll remember to put my film in her bio! I'll certainly keep her in mind in the future. She was so well behaved and was perfect in the scene. I am just sorry that she is in the movie for just a short scene. She's so cute!" Ha ha - she sure fooled him! Just kidding, but you wouldn't believe she had ADHD during the shooting. She listened and behaved very well. She didn't even mind doing the 30 or so takes it took to get it right (which really surprised me).

Everyone is doing great, hope you are too.

Remember May is Brain Tumor Awareness Month!

You can see Levi on our friend Heide's website www.wallofcourage.com

And just because someone has hair doesn't mean cancer hasn't affected them in someway...

(I thought about making a Tshirt for Levi that says "I had a brain tumor, what's your excuse?" but some people may get offended. But then again, who cares??)

TTFN,

Melina
