MY AMAZING GRACE Grace Emmalea Martin was born with a liver condition called Biliary Atresia. She waited on the National Organ Waiting List for almost 6 months before receiving the first of two liver transplants. Please consider becoming an organ donor today.
On the morning of Friday, February 18, 2005 Grace Emmalea Martin, 13 month old daughter of Jim and Carol Martin, Fairfield, Texas, was lifted up onto the wings of Angels and carried to the open waiting arms of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Gracie was born January 14, 2005 in Palestine, Texas. Her time here on Earth was not to be for long, but during her time with us, she touched many, many lives and warmed hearts. Though she was not able to speak, her sparkling eyes, gorgeous bright smile, and warm touching hand said all she needed to say. She was, is, and always will be a strong spirited little girl.
She is the Amazing Grace of GOD.
Gracie was born with a condition that required a liver transplant. Through many hospitalizations and doctors visits she greeted all with a warm smile or a friendly wave. After two liver transplants, her little body got tired and she graduated onto heaven.
Her favorite things were snuggling with Daddy, playing with her brother and sister, going for walks with Grandma, and having her cheeks nuzzled and kissed Mommy. On a good day, she would do the “chicken dance” for anyone willing to watch her.
Through the generosity of two families taking the time to see beyond their grief to think of others, to donate their child’s organs, and the caring attention of numerous Doctors and Nurses at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, Gracie was given an opportunity to be here longer, but it was not to be part of God’s Ultimate Plan for her or family and friends.

"THAT DAY"
There were dozens of doctors working for you to stay, After their efforts were exhausted, they parted way. Daddy and I held you tight, continuing to pray, Pleading for the Angels NOT to take you away. Then Jesus, who had been sitting at the foot of the bed all day, spoke these words so softly, He had this to say... "Let Gracie come Home with Me, In Heaven she can play and play, And never have another pain-filled day." Through stinging tears and white-hot knuckles, I managed to say "At your feet, Dear Lord, all my fears I lay, If this is your will, this is the way. If you must, then you may." In the beat of a heart, Jesus and Gracie were on their way, Off on their journey without delay. "I love you so much and "I'll miss you" was all I could say on the glorious morning of That Day.
Journal
Wednesday, February 15, 2006 12:39 AM CST Thank you for checking on us. Sorry, I don't have more to add, the words just aren't coming right now, even though they are flooding my every thought.
Today is the anniversary of Gracie's first transplant. I can remember every single event that happened this week a year ago. I am having a terrible time completely re-living each moment. The harder I try to block it, the harder it hits me. I can't help but think, what was I doing at this exact time last year? It is going to be a very difficult time, so keep us all in your prayers.
Thanks, ~Carol
