Thinking of you throughout the National Day of Prayer. Prayer is so simple. It is like quietly opening a door and slipping into the very presence of God. There, in the stillness, to listen for His voice, perhaps in petition or only to listen, it matters not. Just to be there,

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 (NIV)

Bless, O God, all who struggle with health concerns. Empower them with hope for each and every day. Provide them with loving and tender care, laughter, and the support of love. Grant them comfort when they are in pain, and your blessing when all else seems hopeless, that in their fight with illness they may continue to praise you and glorify your name. Amen. May you find comfort in this prayer today.

Hi Ashlie,
I was just here yesterday and read that your site was under construction. I was thrilled to get your email today.What timing. I can't believe Nate is actually 6 1/2 years old. Where has the time gone? Jacinda will be 19 in March and has been receiving palliative care with hospice since August 07. She has had a major breakdown physically and never got better. After 10 months of treatment in Cincy, we came home to Sarasota in May 06. The four of us went on her Make-A-Wish trip in August and that was fabulous. I hope and pray they find a cure for the debilitating eos disease soon, and I hope things are going great for you and the boys.They look precious as always.

These verses were part of my husband's sermon text today. This is a really good passage and speaks a lot to us all as we face a new year. Praying!
Lamentations 3:21-26 This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

I was surprised this morning to see a hymn added at the end of the service when we normally have silent prayer. I was distressed to see that it was "Abide With Me" because it's been many years since I've been able to sing that hymn without crying. Today was no exception.
