Welcome to Lauren Frank's Web Page. It has been provided to keep people updated about Lauren.
Lauren was diagnosed with Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma on December 13, 2003. The tumor was in the roof of her mouth and extended up to her sinuses. She started chemotherapy on 12/17/03. The tumor was surgically removed on April 7, 2004. She has been through 6 weeks of radiation, and her last chemotherapy treatment was the first week of November 2004.
Jennifer, Scott and Lauren would like to thank everyone who has prayed for our girl, prepared meals, and watched Kristen. The support has been overwhelming and much appreciated! Please continue to keep us all in your prayers as we work toward curing her.
Journal
Sunday, July 6, 2008 6:48 AM CDT Lauren attended Camp Horizon for the fouth year in mid June. She had a blast as usual, and we will try to get some updated pictures from camp and our vacation on the website.
Lauren had her first visit to the Survivorship Clinic and her 3 1/2 year scans this week. The Survivorship Clinic did scare her a bit, as there was much talk of the late effects of her treatment. Overall, the visit to the clinic was good, she is growing and developing much as she should.
The results of the scans show a thickening of the sinus cavity where her tumor was. The doctors aren't alarmed, but obviously not the total thumbs up we have seen over the last three years. She will get in to see the ENT surgeon as soon as they can fit her in, and she will also have follow up scans in October. We are praying that the thickening of her sinus wall is due to a new retainer that was really bothering her. She just got it a month ago, and it was irritating her up in her sinus cavity.
We ask that you also say a prayer for a young lady named Savannah Swandal, who is fighting Rhabdomyosarcoma for the second time. She was diagnosed in kindergarten, and has had a relapse in second grade. You can find her website at

May you have a safe and blessed summer,
Jennifer, Scott, Lauren, Kristen, Spyke, and Roxy (new addition to the family)
