Devin has a genetic disease called SMA type 1. Because of SMA Devin is unable to walk, crawl, eat or even breath on his own. Devin has a trach and vent 24/7 since Feb of 03 and a g-tube to help him eat. He is a very bight, happy and funny little man. Everyone he meets falls in love with him.

Sunday, December 25, 2005 7:40 PM CST HAPPY HOLIDAYS to everyone!!! We hope that everyone had a great Holiday.
We just had a great Christmas! Devin really racked up this year and the most wonderful present to my whole family was that Devin actually got to be at the Christmas party this year. We have had our van parked in the driveway since we got it in mid July. We have been too afraid to take that big step and venture out into the world with the little man. I guess it's the fear of germs and everything else that could go wronge that has kept us home, but not this time. It was hard, packing all of the equipment and making sure that we had EVERYTHING that we could possibly need for the 20 min. drive and 3 hour visit (which we all know means his WHOLE bedroom) but sooo worth it. My family was complete! I didn't feel that little ache in my heart that I usually do when we go to family things without him with us. He did sooo good, just made himself at home. This child hates clothing so it didnt take him long to get down to just a diaper and a tee shirt, but that's ok. It was wonderful. I have plenty of pictures I am going to be posting some of them on here for everyone to see. This was our first trip of many. Unfortunatly we didn't get to make it to my husbands families house, but we will be there soon. I really wanted to but, that would have been just a little too much for him on his first big trip. The little guy was so tired he went right to sleep as soon as we got him all packed up in the van, and didnt even wake up when we brought him back in his room and got him ready for bed.
