There is a national team called Miracle League. Blake's cousin's wife..Mike Craigo is the Coach for Blake's team.

Enjoy!!!!

Cool Slideshows

Blake was born prematurely (weighing only 1 lb. 6 oz.). This has created a great deal of physical problems for him. Although only 13 years old, Blake has been forced to deal with a huge range of health issues. The list often seems endless for such a small child,
such as the following:

Immune Deficiency with incomplete T-cell Function

He cannot make antibodies to fight off infection

Asthma capacity

Trypsin Deficiency (cannot digest protein)

Asperger's Syndrome (high functioning form of Autism)

GERD
(major damage including gastric fluids
in his lungs and ear!)

ADHD and Prothrombin Genetic Deffect(Blood Clotting Disorder).

Osteoporosis

...... and IS just absolutely adorable!

Blake is a very courageous little boy. Due to his health issues, he is completely homebound. His interests range from favorite colors being red and yellow, to enjoying Christian music, Veggietales, Bible Man, and Scooby Doo. He sure does love to read! He also loves to fish and ride the four-wheeler with his father.
He also loves Matchbox and Hot Wheels cars,
castles, and Star Wars.

So tiny, but whole
Smaller than your average babydoll.
That is the Earlybird!
Not due for another 3 & 1/2 months
But so anxious to arrive.
Born with his mom's nose
And his Dad's toes.
"We have a 'fighter'!!"
Are the words of dad.
To make everyone's spirits lighter
He tried hard NOT to be sad
For the Little Earlybird.
His name is Blake.
With eyes as blue as a crystal lake.
After a few "close calls"
We overcame many obstacles,
And wondered, "What lies ahead?"
In the future of the little bird
With his hair so red?
Will he see clearly
With his eyes so blue?
Will he hear all sounds that are new?
Will he be a cuddler?
Or refuse our love?
No one knows yet~But I bet~~
With the help from our Father above
He WILL be fine
And cause everyone to walk the line.
He still has a ways to go, I know.
This Little Earlybird,
So happy and free
Will soon turn three.
His eyes are still blue,
But his hair has changed to brown.
His spirits are never down
And this IS TRUE!!!!
He sees all that is around
And he hears every sound.
He likes to be cuddled
Thanks to the good Lord above~~
He enjoys everyones love!!!!
The Little Earlybird,
So anxious to arrive,
YES~~~~ HE IS ALIVE!!!!
With sooooo many toys to play,
He finds more joy in life itself!
That is Blake
THE LITTLE EARLYBIRD!!

Whooo.Hooo.....!!!

Another Dr. apt put behind with answers!!!

Blaek had his eye Dr. Appt. This will be his 4th Eye Dr. since 6 yrs. of age. He had the first out of NICU at age 6 months. Slight case of Retinopathy of Prematurity...may out grow......
Age 6 he was taken because he said he was seeing tow images at once....plus left eye turns in...got pictures of that. The Dr. says it is just due to him looking at the object infront of him....huh?? there was nothing in front of him.....as for the images....just hyperness & inability to focus his attention......
Then we were sent to a pediatric Eye Specialist at age 7. His Developmental Pediatrician agrred with family that the left eye does turn in & Blake's eyes "bounce" back to center with no effort. He is DX'ed with Severe Nearsightedness & Strabismus....left eye turns in far enough for Blake to not be able to read as well as he could. he went to this Dr. for 5 yrs. Age 13, he is sent to a hometown Dr. because his Specialist was in Germany. her partner moved to Greenville SC. Blake was given a pair of Glasses. He lost the pair but the Dr. gave me a repeat script to replace with our own money(only allowed one pair per yr). This Dr. leaves Greenwood. So we are back at the Greenwood Eye Clinic. They scheduled Blake to see Dr. D...a native of Greenwood. But we had to see Dr. B....My eye Dr. he was very blunt & to the point.
Dr. B...."Do you like to watch TV Blake?
Blake..."Yes, I do....why?
Dr. B...If you want to be able to keep watching TV you need to wear the glasses at ALL times.....You will not be able to see TV unless you are actually sitting on top of it!!"
Blake...."When do I have to start wearing them....I already sit too close to the TV. I can only see the paper in front of me".
Dr. B...."You need to find your old glasses until we get your new ones ordered" "Are you a good reader for your teachers?"
Blake...."Oh Yes, I made straight A's for school" "I will look for the glasses tonight & start wearing them tomorrow"
Dr. B....."Done Deal...I'll see you back in a month for a follow up!"

After Dr. B leaseves, he tells me that Blake is really "blind" He can not see more than 5 ft. ahead. he could not even got the alphabet right on the mirrors. That was befor edialation. After, he could read 20/20 with the glasses adjusted!! But witht he board right in his hand about 2 inches he read 20/20 before & after!!!!!

So, after a massive hunt, we found the glasses. At first he refused to wear them. Poppie was the lifesaver. he explained how he & Nana have to wear them all of the time to read & write. Well Blake put them on. A couple of minutes later, he told Poppie..."Wow I can see your face much clearer now, before it was just a blurry peach head I was seeing....I can count how many hairs you have on you head now!!!!(Poppie is bald...has been since he was about 19!!!).

Greenwood has been in the middle of it's Annual Festival of Flowers" this is our bigges event here in our home town. All kinds of folks from all over the south-east travel here for all of the fun things they can get involved with.....Photography show-off, crafts of all kinds, Flower arrangements as well a flower gardens at select homes that others can alos take tours of to get ideas to take home with them!!!! Well this past weekend, it is Festival of Discovery. usually I take Blake & we get to sample some of the finest Bar-b Que around the southeast. we absolutely love this!!! I get out of the kitchen & blake gets to literally "Pig out"!!!!
This year I did not take him. He spent the day Friday with Poppie & Nana. They took him to the festivities. He hloved it!! Poppie & Nana usually do not do this kind of stufff....no matter who wants them to go...old times...lots of walking & that sort of stuff. Well What an HONOR for them to take Blake this yr.
While there, Blake was asked to be the official tab puller...he pulled names out of the hat for the contestants. After all the names had been pulled & called(By Blake!!!) they awarded Blake with cups from the entrants and a sample of all the food.....free....of course Nana & Poppie could sample the food as well!!!

Then on Saturday, Blake had his Award's Banquet for playing on the Miracle League. He got up & proudly accepted his trophy & thanked Mr. Brandon & Mr. Andy for letting him play and he was ready to start again...he then thanked Mr. Joel for being a Buddie to him & helping him learn how to hit a ball!!! Blake was not required to say anything, so to hear him talk publically is an honor for me to hear...Not to mention there was not adry eye in the place because all that knew Blake just knew he would not even get up in front of anybody!!!!
During the banquet before the awards were given out, everyone from the differnt teams got to get re-aquainted with one another & talk festivities of the town as well as ear bab-b-que catered by one of the teams mates parents(their little girl is on Blake's team...her mom & I grew up together in days gone by...what a refreshing time for us!!!). During the time of gathering & all getting settles getting the children fed & ourselves as well, they played my complete DVD of picture videos. I also provided each family, volunteer, buddie a copy of the DVD. THen I made several copies of all the pictures I took of all the games & told the parents to help themselves to what they wanted of teh pictures & if they wanted more, then to give me a call & I would see to it the got what they needed....what a blessing...ALL of the pictures were taken by the ones they were of & the families have a lasting memeory of the First Miracle League of Greenwood!!!!

That does not end here.....
.........Tuesday Jan. 15 the Miracle League of Greenwood Players & Coaches will be presented an award for their particpation. I did not realize that the first video I made would take over Greenwood in such a mighty way!!! If you live here in Greenwood, you are ALL invited to the Greenwood County Courthouse at 5:30 pm....we plan on flooding the Courthouse with all fans & supporters of GML!!!

.....The week of July 21-25 is Sirit Week for Chic-fil-A.

....Thursday is Greenwood Miracle League Day...that day between 5:30pm & 8:00pm....15% of ALL prceeds will go the the Greenwood Miracle League. THere is a carnival in the old Northside school field.....All of Greenwood & visitors are welcomed to enjoy the fun!!!! All GML players bring your golves they will be tossing out prises for you guys to catch!!!(if you don't have a glove that is more that fine!!!)

ALL PLAYERS WEAR YOUR UNIFORMS TO BOTH EVENTS!!!!!

Just a little plug here to help support a Miracle in the Making!!!!
Thank You Mr. Andy, Mr Brandon and ALL the Buddies, and volunteers....as the saying goes

"ALL KIDS DESERVE A CHANCE TO PLAY BASEBALL!!!"
You truly are....ANGELS IN THE OUTFIELD!!!!!

Gotta run, time to get Sub-Q on board....Blake is well off into dream land , I do it at this time of night so he will not be bothered by the needles & such, his sensory issues are much greater during the day due to anticipation, this way he is reating & the meds. will run much faster & less likely to swell because he is not moving around!!!...usually the first needle brings a "No!! Not now, but then he settles & sleeps through all 15 grams(we do 5 grams on tuesday & 10 grams on Sat or Sunday). Blake says he likes it better at bedtime because he is not "waiting" for it!!!!

Hope everyone has a GREAT week....Please come again...I am sure there will be an adventure or 2 that Blake can come up with once the activities settle down...not that these are not adventures...they really are because we NEVER know what to expect out of the Blakester!!!!

Love you ALL!!!
Julie, Blake
and of course...can't leave out....
The Queen of Blake's Heart.....Pepper Anne!!!!!
