This banner was made as a gift from Stephanie and Helen. I think the words speak for themselves. Welcome to Amy's web page. She was 19 years old and diagnosed on October 5, 1999 with Osteosarcoma, a bone cancer. Over the past 5 years she had endured countless rounds of chemotherapy, over 25 surgeries, and five different sessions of radiation for her lungs and arm. On March 28, 2000, a day none of us will ever forget, her leg was taken from her. Amy in her words, "I realized my life would never be the same again." Amy enjoyed every day of her life. She enjoyed playing all kinds of sports. She had an amazing attitude and tons of determination. She never gave up fighting. Her motto was, "Never give up!" We hope you enjoy Amy's site, we will try to keep it updated as much as possible. We miss her and from what we've seen, you miss her too! Thanks for stopping and don't be afraid to sign the guestbook, We would love to hear from you. The following is a poem written by Amy. It is called The Fight

I woke up in the morning to the brightness of the sun
But by night fall I was hit with words that seemed to weigh a ton

I had gone to the doctor’s office to see what was wrong
By the end of the stay I had to be 10 times as strong

The doctor seemed to be talking with words that made no sense
He said I had cancer, which made my muscles tense

But how could that be when I’m just a “normal” kid
The doctor reassured me it was nothing I did

The light at the end of the tunnel seems to be far
But I have to put that behind me and look for the distant star

The times are rough, I can guarantee you that
I was put to the test in one on one combat

There are times when I’m frustrated, and things I don’t understand
But I know what I need to do, to stay in command

The doctors and nurses said they’re not giving up on me
Until they hear the words, You’re cancer free

The star in the distance has not yet arrived
The day will come when I can say I survived

Happy 4th of July!!!!!

Not a day goes by that I don't think about my sister, Amy. We continue to miss her everyday. I love to pick up her book, "Fighting for my Life," and read some of her inspirational messages to help remind myself to enjoy each and every day and to live life to the fullest.

Peace, Love and Hugs,
Denise
