Kendra Jeanine Clark was born a strong baby girl weighing nine pounds even. She held her head up as soon as she was born. No one ever would've suspected she didn't have a working immune system. At about 5 mos. old, she started getting fevers every weekend. After being diagnosed with a cold and ear infection about five times in a row, a new pediatrician said there was no way she had an ear infection and her fevers weren't being caused by a cold. She sent us to a more experienced pediatrician who in turn sent us to Children's Hospital. At around 7 mos. of age, she was diagnosed with SCIDs (Severe Combined Immune Deficiency syndrome). SCIDs only occurs in one in a million babies. In October of 2004, Kendra was taken to Duke U Med Ctr in NC for a bone marrow transplant. She recieved the transplant on Nov. 9, 2004. On Dec. 10th, she was released from the hospital and allowed to stay at the nearby Ronald McDonald House. In June of 2005, Kendra & her family were allowed to go back home to Ohio. This site is here for her friends and family to keep up with her progress.

Journal
Wednesday, July 1, 2009 We go today at 6 pm to have my labor induced. Kendra is thrilled. She'll get to see her little sister tomorrow morning! Kendra is 5 now and growing like a weed. She's up to 50 pounds now and almost 4 ft tall. They tested her last winter to see if she's making her own antibodies yet but we won't find out the results until sometime this month probably. If she is, we can stop her IVIG that she gets every 6 weeks. I really hope so. She's starting to hate getting poked for IV's. She still does really well with them though. We will find out in a couple weeks whether the new baby has SCIDS, too. I believe she will be fine and won't have SCIDs or anything else wrong for that matter. I have perfect peace about it. Well, I will try to update and let everyone know what comes about in both situations. Please continue to pray for us. Thanks.

P.S. I'm having the baby tonight, and we still don't know her name!
