TANNER GILBERT
Thank you for visiting Tanner's webpage. Tanner has been diagnosed twice with two different cancers within the first 3 years of his life. First he was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a cancer of the nervous systems, when he was 8 months old. he had 5 rounds of chemo, 1 surgery to remove his adrenal gland 2 stem cell transplants, 15 rounds of radiation and accutane for 4 months. He was dx in June of 2004 and declared NED ( no evidence of disease) in Nov of 04. All went well until July of 06 when he needed a surgery to remove scar tissue from his abdomen that wrapped around is intestines. that went fine and was just a week in the hospital. He was doing rountine scans every 3 months and blood work monthly. On Oct 23, 2006 we went to the clinic for routine blood test. They told us that they are seeing some abnormal cells in this blood. they following day they did a bone marrow biopsy and found out he had AML. This is a very aggressive cancer and is very hard to treat. So again we are here with the odds stacked against us. we are battling again and hope to come out on top in the end. Thank you for stopping by and caring about Tanner and his never ending battles with cancer..

Monday, July 28, 2008 10:31 PM CDT Well Gramma here again, just thought I'd post some pictures of Tanner and Aleksa and Mommy's visit to NY ON JULY 9-19. We had a great time and really hated it to end. Tanner and Aleksa had great fun. We went to Hershey Park the first weekend they were here. Aleksa loved the smell in Hershey when we drove thru the streets lined with Hershey Kiss street lights. We spent 3 days there, I know the kids could have gone longer but Gramma and Grandpa were pooped. I was able to take off for the week and spent time with them and my other son from Virginia(who Tanner had never met). They hit it off really well, Tanner and Aleksa got to spend time with their cousins that they haven't seen in awhile. The day before they left we went to Lake George and did mini golfing and ate Pizza and had ice cream. Tanner did great at golf as did Aleksa and the rest of the kids. Me not so good, but I had alot of fun. In 3 months we will make our drive to Oklahoma for our annual trip, hopefully we will have a place to stay because Heidi is putting her house on the market again, she just can't afford it any longer, she has really tried. She would like to stay in the same school district so Aleksa can continue at Westfield. Please say a PRAYER for her that everything works out in HER favor. Thanks for checking in on Tanner, as you can see he is doing really well. Gramma Jutta
