This is Zoe a beautiful little girl who could not be more active and playful. A happy little girl who lead the normal life of being spoilt, going to playgroup and having lots of friends. Until she got sick one Sunday (24/08/03). We thought it was the flu, but after three doctors in three days, then she developed a sore arm, she was diagnosed with osteomylitis (bone infection)and put into Kalgoorlie hospital, but had to be treated in Perth. On Thurday (28/08/03) we were flown to Perth to be treated for the bone infection. We Arrived at PMH were admitted, blood was taken and then friday afternoon the bone scan cancelled we were advised another doctor would come see us, everbody avoided us until the doctor came. The doctor came three hours later and took us into a little room to tell us they had found leukemic cells in her body and they would do a bone marrow on monday to confirm her dianosis. Zoe is 3 years old and diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on 1st September 2004 and had 78% Leukemic cells in her body. She has been through 9 months of intensive chemotherapy, and we had to relocate to Perth for this time and live in Ronald McDonald House. Zoe was in remission within 28 days and from there on her treatment is to make sure it stays away. You always think it happens to other people then it happened to us, but life goes on and you deal with everything that happens good or bad. Now 11 months on our lives are getting back to normal we still have about 18 months of chemo to go but we are home and trying to lead a normal life beside the once a month trips to Perth and the monitoring her temperature every minute of the day especially in winter.
Some people pass by without siging our guest book everyword is appreciated and no words are wrong so please let us know you were here it would be great to hear from you.

 Zoe's Quilt of Love

Found this on Kaitlyn's page thought it was so true.
You have Taught me
You have taught me patience To rejoice in small gains, which others take for granted. You have taught me tolerance to accept that your perspective is different and deserves respect. You have taught me courage to fight for you when no one else will. You have taught me endurance to go on when I feel I can't any more. You have taught me humility to accept when I can't make things better but can only be here for you. You have taught me to love at a deeper level than I ever thought possible

Tuesday, October 3, 2006 2:01 AM CDT Well hello
Yes I know it has been a while but we have a hectic few months with speedway and hockey.
Zoe is doind ok we are nearly 12 months off chemo and we have just started having dramas with urine infections and she has a duplex kidney system which means she has more chance of getting kidney infection from urine infection as ther is like a third ureathra. We are going to see a specialist they are talking about maybe removing the third one, also maybe taking out her tonsils and adniods. So we are getting close to the end of our first year off treatment and then something else seems to happen but she is strong this is minor really.
As for me i have been havin trouble breathing and thought it might be my heart so we are in the process of looking into what is wrong with me if not my heart maybe my lungs.
So hope everyone else is going well will update when we have some more answers.
Sam
