I've heard about a child in need. Most of us know that feeling.
Here is the message I received today....

Sorry for the group email but I have a friend in need and am trying to do anything I can as I do not have the correct blood type to help. You'll see below that a good friend of mine has a close family friend whose little boy (5 years old) was recently diagnosed with a malignant tumor on his brain stem. She had originally told me it was inoperable (they've known only for a few weeks to a month), but apparently they're traveling to Philly for surgery and are looking for B blood donations. If any of you have this type and would be interested in donating specifically to this little boy, please let me know and I can get you all the info. I can imagine nothing worse in life than having a sick child and wish I could help.

Now I responded with this message....

I'm a speaker for Red Cross is Philly NJ area. All blood types are need and specific donations though can be done, are a bit complicated.

If you get Philly chanel 3 you have probably seen a commerical that has run for the past 2 year with Sami and I in it. A friend sent me a newspaper last week with the picture of Sami from above in the paper encouraging blood donations. I have done many speaking engagements for the American Red Cross Princeton Blood Donator center.

This time of year blood supply is low and I would not be surprised if they are in need of B , but also all blood types.

The reason blood supply is low this time of year is that most blood drives are done at schools and work place locations and schools are out and many people take vacations. It is also the time when the most blood is need. Philly area is actually an importer. That means, the area does not get enough blood donations on a regular basis to supply the region. A great deal of blood for this area is donated by the mid west.

So donate, please where ever you are.
