Joshua's Journal

Joshua and his buddy Charlie this summer! Where did summer go?

Look how far we've come! It's amazing!

Welcome to www.joshuasjournal.org

Joshua was diagnosed with a very rare cancer named Pleuropulmonary Blastoma in November 2002. In October 2003 he completed chemotherapy. In December 2003, Joshua relapsed with brain mets. In April 2004, Joshua completed a stem cell transplant. Read all about him, enjoy his photos and sign the guest book or email us so we know you were here. Journal Entries from 2002

JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT JOSH & JAKE'S SCAN WERE BOTH CLEAR! THE BOYS ARE OFFICIALLY DONE WITH THEIR ROUTINE SCANS! IT IS REALLY UNBELIEVABLE THAT WE ARE COMPLETELY DONE EXCEPT FOR CHECK UPS/BLOOD WORK YEARLY. THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR CHECKING ON JOSH AND SO MANY PRAYERS THROUGHOUT THE YEARS! WE WILL, OF COURSE, CONTINUE TO APPRECIATE ALL THE CONTINUED PRAYERS FOR REMISSION THAT LAST FOREVER. GOD BLESS.

Hi everyone! It has been forever since I updated this site, so thought I would give a quick update.

First of all, Joshua (and Jake B) will be having their last official scans on December 11th. We hope and pray all will remain clear with those. We thank God that we have made it this far and pray that remission continues forever.

Joshua has been doing very well in 4th grade. No sign of side effects from his treatments yet, so hopefully we won't see any. I know that is probably hard to even ask for after all that he has been through, but so far so good. So, we will take that! We keep our eye out for any learning difficulties but so far he seems to be breezing through quite easily. He will start basketball here in January and then we would like him to continue on his baseball team he has been on for the past 3 years or so. His coaches are incredible and he really enjoys the kids on the team. He would like to play tennis instead, so we will have to see what wins out. Possibly both.

Tanner is doing great in 8th grade, but has been having some issues with dizziness. We have had all kinds of tests ran including a brain MRI, which was quite scary to have done. All was clear with that. Thank God. He has had blood tests and some balance testing done also with everything coming back normal. So, he is seeing my brother-in-law, the chiropractor, and that has seemed to help. He has been missing way too much school, so I hope we can get it under control very soon.

Justin will leave for Southeast Community College in Milford, NE in January, so that is exciting for him. He will be studying Machine Tool and trying to get any opportunity to work on his car there too, I'm sure. I am excited for this opportunity for him, so I hope he takes advantage of it and works hard. I'm sure his brothers will miss him dearly, but I'm sure he will be back on the weekends. It is only an hour away.

I can't believe that Christmas is right around the corner and that winter is here. ugh! I know most of you know this - I HATE winter! I am trying to be positive about it this year, but I usually do okay until January and then I've had enough. I am hoping for a mild winter.

My photography business is going well and I am taking some classes now, so things will be getting even busier. But, Life is good now and I can't complain about anything, as Joshua's health has been good and that is more than I could ever ask for. I only wish that all the children diagnosed would be able to reach remission. That is truly heart-breaking and my thoughts and prayers go out to all the families who are spending the holidays with one less child in their home. It is just so wrong that small children get this sick and we can't save them. We pray for a cure and for peace and comfort to those who need it so badly. God bless and Happy Holidays! Liz
